Waterford Wisp, Incorporated was founded
in 2003 as a non-profit affiliate of the Waterford
Foundation, Inc. to provide high speed wireless interest
access service to members in the Waterford community and surrounding
countryside of Loudoun County, Virginia.
A majority of the directors of Waterford WISP
must always be designated by the board of the Waterford Foundation,
and all profits go to the Waterford Foundation, which was founded
in 1943 to preserve and inform people about historic Waterford,
a living rural village founded by Quakers in 1733 that has been
designated by the U.S. National Parks Service as a National Historic
Landmark.
Due to our presence in the high tech corridor
of Northern Virginia, near Washington, DC,
we are able to draw upon a wide variety of talent in our local
community to make Waterford WISP work. Our many supporters
bring a much broader range of business and technical talent to
our work than we could possibly afford as a for-profit company. We
use state-of-the-art equipment. And because we are run
by neighbors for neighbors, we try to offer a high level of personal
service to our customers. |
